Test Knitting

Well, for the first time, I am test knitting a sock pattern. I cast on Wednesday night onto 2 circs and did 7 rounds of 2x2 ribbing, only to find that I started and ended both needles with k2! The k4 on the sides looked ok, but was not what the designer had in mind, so I ripped it out last night and re-cast on and have successfully completed 18 rounds of ribbing!!!! YEAH!!! 8 more rounds and then I can get to the pattern part of the cuff. I'm using Labe Bebe Color for this sock. First time I've knit with it, and although the end didn't seem to want to hold it's twist, the farther into the ball I get, the better the twist is. Anyway, I'm hoping to finish mom's tank this weekend as well as progressing on this test sock.

Happy Knitting!!!!!!

Finishing Class Ends

Well, the last finishing class was last Wednesday. Did I complete my homework? No. I did have 3.5 swatches done but none of them were ribbing. Anyway, the other ladies had more than enough to share. I had had a really bad day at work and wasn't sure holding pointed needles in my hand was a good idea. Anyway, I observed several tres cool techniques that I can't wait to try out.

Well, I'm looking forward to getting things back to normal now that Mom is pretty much back in action again. Well, now I need to call the vet and see how my stray cat, Morris, did. I had him neutered today.

More later,

Six Sox Knitalong

Although I haven't been able to knit the socks, I am looking forward to casting on the fluted bannister socks this weekend. All the patterns are gorgeous, so if you are a socknitter, come check out Six Sox Knitalong at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Six_Sox_Knitalong. It's an awesome group and if you knit the current sock before the deadline and post a pictures of the socks in progress and finished, then you are entered into a drawing for some reall cool prizes.

Finishing Class

Well, last night was the first of two finishing classes at my LYS. We discussed all kinds of options that we can use while knitting to make finishing easier, more professional looking. LYSO really recommends using sloped shoulder shaping (it's in the Vogue Knitting book).

A couple of gals were ready to do some finishing (I wasn't one of them). Olga needed to learn how to kitchener stitch a hood together on a baby sweater she knit. And Nancy needed to sew a sleeve onto the sweater body.

Anyway, we all got a chance to see Annabella's GORGEOUS 2002 Salt Lake City Norwegian Olympic sweater she made. All I can say is that although she tries to convey that she is a novice knitter, she isn't!!!

For homework, LYSO has asked us to knit little swatches of st st, garter, ribbing (either 1x1 or 2x2) and any shaping or problems that we tend to encounter in our knitting.

I'll keep you posted as to the status of my finishing lessons!

String Me Along another great knitter's blog!!!

It Happens

It Happens

This is a really cool knitter's blog!

Testing

This is a test to see if I can post entries via email.

First Entry

I am a knitter. I am a crocheter. I do cross stitch. I love to work with beads. Currently on the needles/hook(s) are:

1) a ribbed shell (k) for mom - need to finish the front for a finishing class tomorrow night!;
2) bead ribbed sock (k) - the first sock is now on the foot but it has been languishing because of the shell project.
3) wildfoote sock (k) - supposed to be finishing these for my friend. They are in the mums colorway.
4) shells in a basket (c) afghan - have about 3 and a part pattern repeats done.
5) wildlife cross stitch - only a few stitches put in
6) santa/bear Christmas stocking (cs) - have finally progressed beyond the holly wreath around Santa's head and hopefully can find the pattern again to work some more on this soon! LOL Only been in progress for about 6-7 years now.....

I know there have got to be more projects in process, but can't remember what they are! LOL

Anyway, once I figure out how to add pictures, I will post them.
